Mastercard and BVNK launched their Global Money Platform on October 15, 2026, marking the first major joint product to emerge since Mastercard’s acquisition of the stablecoin infrastructure company closed in August 2026. The platform is designed as a modular infrastructure layer that combines Mastercard’s existing payments rails with BVNK’s stablecoin technology, letting partners access both through a single integration rather than stitching together separate traditional and crypto-native payment systems themselves.
At the core of the offering are multi-currency accounts that hold both fiat currencies and stablecoins side by side, paired with real-time conversion between the two and stablecoin-linked cards that let holders spend their balances directly. Local payouts to bank accounts run through Mastercard Move, the company’s existing cross-border payments network, giving partners a way to move funds out of the platform and into traditional banking rails in markets around the world. Partners can offer all of these capabilities under their own brand rather than Mastercard’s or BVNK’s.
Mastercard said its Move network already reaches more than 17 billion endpoints globally, and that local payout coverage through the new platform is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories by 2027. Card issuing through the platform is already available in more than 130 countries, while stablecoin balances held on the platform can be spent at what the companies described as hundreds of millions of merchant locations worldwide, leaning on Mastercard’s existing acceptance network rather than building new merchant relationships from scratch.
Nuvei and Marqeta are named as the platform’s first integrators, with Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech also signed on as early partners. Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s Executive Vice President for Blockchain and Digital Assets, said the companies believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money. BVNK co-founder and Chief Business Officer Chris Harmse said the Global Money Platform is intended to become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins but for every form of money, while Nuvei Chair and Chief Executive Officer Phil Fayer said stablecoins are becoming an increasingly important part of that future.
Looking ahead, Mastercard and BVNK said the platform is designed to eventually support agentic commerce, meaning autonomous software agents transacting on a user’s behalf, as well as tokenized deposits issued by banks, both of which the companies view as emerging categories that will need the kind of combined fiat-and-stablecoin infrastructure the new platform is built around. The announcement, published on BVNK’s own press page, did not disclose specific transaction volume or revenue targets for the new platform.
