Phantom is ending support for the Sui blockchain in its wallet on September 24, 2026, the company said in a post on X, giving users about a month to move funds elsewhere or swap them into another asset with Phantom’s own fee waived.

Phantom and Sui have decided to end Sui support on Phantom on September 24, and leave open the opportunity to explore other collaborations in the future.

Your funds remain safe and fully under your control. Before 9/24, you can move your wallet to another app that supports Sui,…

— Phantom (@phantom) August 24, 2026

The move is Phantom’s second full chain deprecation within a month. Phantom announced it would stop supporting Monad, an Ethereum-compatible network, on July 25; Monad’s support ended August 26, two days after Phantom told Sui users their chain was leaving too. Sui is adding post-quantum signatures to strengthen account and vault security after an AI-discovered cryptographic weakness.

A chain Phantom once called a strategic fit

Sui went live natively on Phantom on January 29, 2025, becoming the wallet’s first Move-based chain and third fully supported layer-1 network, alongside Solana and Ethereum.

“Sui’s focus on scalability and its superior user experience aligns perfectly with Phantom’s goal of making crypto accessible for everyone,” Phantom CEO Brandon Millman said at the time.

Sui Foundation managing director Christian Thompson called the integration validation that “Sui’s time has arrived” and said the ecosystem was ready to onboard “the next billion users into crypto.”

Nineteen months later, Phantom’s announcement offers none of that framing. The company describes the split only as a mutual decision that will “leave open the opportunity to explore other collaborations in the future,” without saying what changed.

The same one-month exit Phantom just gave Monad

Sui launched natively on Phantom on Jan. 29, 2025, as the wallet’s first Move-based chain. About 19 months later, its exit follows Phantom’s earlier Monad wind-down.

Monad and Sui exit timeline
Monad and Sui exit timeline

Phantom announced Sui’s exit one month after beginning to unwind Monad and two days before Monad support ended.

The two exits ran on nearly identical clocks, as the timeline above shows.

  • Phantom will stop supporting Sui in its wallet on September 24, 2026.
  • Users can swap native SUI for wrapped SUI on Solana with Phantom’s fee waived through the deadline, or move funds to another Sui wallet such as Slush.
  • The exit follows Phantom’s removal of Monad support, announced July 25 and completed August 26, 2026, about a month before Sui’s own deadline.

How to move your funds before the deadline

Users can swap native SUI for wrapped SUI on Solana at no added Phantom fee through the deadline; network and exchange fees still apply. They can also export their wallet’s recovery phrase into another Sui-compatible wallet, including Slush, the Sui Foundation’s own app.

“Your assets live on the blockchain and are controlled by your recovery phrase or private key, not by Phantom,” the company said.

What would confirm this is more than coincidence

Neither Phantom nor the Sui Foundation has said why the integration is ending, and no public data shows how much Sui activity actually ran through Phantom’s wallet.

A third chain deprecation in the coming months would confirm Phantom is narrowing its supported roster; a wave of new integrations in the same stretch would suggest the Monad and Sui exits were coincidence rather than a pattern.
