- Eric Trump denied a rumored new Trump-linked coin launch on August 22, calling it a fraud.
- The rumor briefly pushed the TRUMP token’s price higher before the denial reset it.
- Three existing Trump-linked tokens have lost most of their value since launch, even as Trump reported more than $1.4 billion in crypto income last year.
Eric Trump said on August 22 that rumors of a new Trump family cryptocurrency are false, calling the claim a fraud. The denial answers one narrow question. It leaves untouched a pattern that has followed the Trump family’s crypto ventures since early 2025, new coin activity paired with price swings that reward early holders, and family income that keeps growing while regulators have yet to settle the rules governing officials and digital assets.
What a joke… This is absolutely not true. No one is launching any kind of coin. If anyone is suggesting otherwise, it’s a fraud. https://t.co/H0nWXNL8rn

Blockchain analytics firm Nansen found that of roughly 1.48 million wallets that bought the TRUMP token, 988,905 were underwater, with combined losses near $3.81 billion. Trump’s own 2025 financial disclosure reported more than $1.4 billion in crypto related income over the same period.
The gap has not gone unnoticed. A Reuters and Ipsos poll found that 63 percent of Americans consider Trump’s crypto profits inappropriate, and Senate Democrats have pushed for an investigation. A provision in the pending CLARITY Act would bar sitting officials from issuing digital assets, but the Senate delayed a vote on the bill to September.
Meanwhile the family’s crypto footprint keeps expanding. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency gave World Liberty Financial conditional bank charter approval on August 14, a step that would let it issue its own stablecoin. World Liberty Financial is the Trump backed venture behind the WLFI token.
How the Rumor Started
Saturday’s rumor traced back to a post from an account called WhaleScan claiming a Trump coin launch was imminent, followed by separate posts pointing to a new token deployed on Robinhood Chain. Neither post cited an official announcement, a wallet address, or a contract confirmed to belong to the Trump family.
The TRUMP token still climbed from about $1.41 to $3.60 intraday, a jump of roughly 65 percent, before Eric Trump’s denial brought it back down. MELANIA gained 18.4 percent over the same stretch.
Existing Tokens Still Underwater
TRUMP has still not recovered from its early 2025 collapse. The token launched on Solana on January 17, 2025, and hit $73.43 within two days before falling to a low of $1.37 on August 13, 2026.
MELANIA, launched two days after TRUMP, now trades around $0.086, about 99 percent below its peak. WLFI, which began public trading in September 2025, has fallen roughly 78 percent from its high to near $0.06. Retail buyers who came in near the highs account for the bulk of the $3.81 billion in losses Nansen tracked across TRUMP wallets alone.
For now, no new Trump-linked coin has appeared, and Eric Trump’s statement stands as the family’s official position. Whether that holds until the CLARITY Act vote in September, or until the next rumor, is the question the denial alone does not answer.
