  • Strategy repurchased $136.4 million of its STRC preferred stock during the week of August 17 to August 23, 2026, the third straight weekly increase in that buyback.
  • The company bought or sold no bitcoin during the same week. Its holdings stayed at 840,447 BTC.
  • Strategy’s USD Reserve rose to $5.10 billion and its USD Cash buffer reached $1.59 billion, funded mainly by $2,006.5 million in new MSTR share sales.

Strategy grew its own preferred stock buyback for a third straight week and bought zero bitcoin, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 24, 2026.

No BTC purchases during the week

For three consecutive weeks now, the company has put growing sums into shoring up its STRC preferred stock while its bitcoin purchases have sat at exactly zero.

Three Weeks, Three Bigger Buybacks

STRC is Strategy’s floating rate preferred stock, one of four preferred series the company has issued to help fund its bitcoin strategy.

The weekly buyback has climbed every week since early August: $109 million during the week of August 3 to 9, $132 million the week after, and $136.4 million in the week just reported. Bitcoin activity over that same stretch has been flat. No purchases, no sales, holdings unchanged the entire time.

Where the Week’s $2 Billion Went

The capital behind these moves came from an at-the-market stock program that sold 18,261,118 MSTR shares for $2,006.5 million in net proceeds during the week, the filing shows. None of it bought bitcoin.

Strategy directed the money toward the STRC repurchase, an addition to its USD Reserve, and a newly established USD Cash position instead.

What Saylor’s Own Numbers Leave Out

Saylor’s post frames the week as strength: a bitcoin stake worth 4% of the entire supply, financed with what he describes as close to zero net leverage. What the post does not mention is the pattern sitting inside those same numbers.

Strategy increased USD Reserve to $5.10B, established additional USD Cash of $1.59B, and repurchased $136M of $STRC. As of 8/23/26: Strategy holds ~4% of Total BTC Supply and has ~0% Net Leverage. $MSTR https://t.co/WZ9GFtJBXh

— Michael Saylor (@saylor) August 24, 2026

For three straight weeks, growing amounts of new capital have gone toward preferred-stock buybacks and cash buffers rather than the bitcoin holdings that ~4% figure is built on. That is not a contradiction of what Saylor said. It is a fact his framing leaves out.
