Ethereum Foundation Sells 5,000 ETH

The Ethereum Foundation announced that it sold 5,000 ETH through an over-the-counter (OTC) transaction on 14 Mar, 2026 at 16:00:47 UTC. The information was shared by the organization through a post on X. According to the announcement, the transaction was completed at an average price of $2,042.96 per ETH. The counterparty involved in the transaction was BitMine Immersion Technologies.

The Ethereum Foundation stated that the proceeds from the sale will be support core operations and activities within the organization. The funding is intended to maintain ongoing work and initiatives managed by the foundation.

The organization specified several areas where the funds will be used. These include protocol research and development, which focuses on advancing the Ethereum protocol and related technical work.

In addition to research efforts, the proceeds will also contribute to ecosystem development. This includes initiatives and activities that support the broader Ethereum ecosystem and related projects. These grants are intended to support initiatives within the Ethereum community as part of the foundation’s activities. The transaction involved a total sale of 5,000 ETH, executed through an OTC deal with BitMine Immersion Technologies as the counterparty.
