iBLOXX Studios DMCC has secured $5.4M (Dh20) in funding to support the launch of its upcoming shooter game, StrayShot. Based in the DMCC free zone, the company is part of the DMCC Gaming Centre and participates in the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 (DPG33).
The studio maintains partnerships with the Dubai Future Foundation, Xsolla, and the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority. iBLOXX was previously sponsored to participate in the Dubai Pavilion at Gamescom, one of the major international trade fairs for the games industry.
StrayShot’s gameplay and setting
StrayShot is a mobile-first shooter optimised for low-end devices. The game features several modes, including Battle Royale, Team Deathmatch and Extraction.
The action is set in the fictional region of Sierra Verde, where players assume the role of mercenaries. Within this setting, players compete both against rival players and against an in-game organisation known as the El Fuego cartel. The title is currently in closed testing.
According to the company, StrayShot will include blockchain-enabled features that allow in-game asset ownership and trading. These systems are intended to let players hold and exchange certain items within the game’s economy.
Use of funds and development plans
The $5.4M (Dh20) funding will be used to support several aspects of StrayShot’s launch and ongoing operation. iBLOXX has stated that the capital is earmarked for marketing, distribution, live operations, ongoing game updates and planned console ports.
“The capital allows us to bring StrayShot to market with the level of quality and operational readiness we believe players expect,” said Domenik Maier, CEO of iBLOXX Studios. No specific launch date for StrayShot has been announced, and the game remains in its testing phase as these preparations continue.
