Pay.sh Launch Connects AI Agents to Stablecoin Payments

Solana Foundation officially shared on Twitter, AI agents can now autonomously pay for Google Cloud services and other APIs using stablecoins on Solana following the launch of Pay.sh by the Solana Foundation and Google Cloud. The system enables agents to execute transactions directly without relying on traditional payment structures.

The gateway operates an API proxy on Google Cloud Platform, connecting AI agents to backend services through the x402 protocol, an open AI payments standard incubated by Coinbase and now under the stewardship of the Linux Foundation. The system also supports the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), developed by Tempo and Stripe.

Supports API-Based Payments Across AI and Blockchain Services

Pay.sh allows AI agents to pay fractions of a cent per API call instead of using monthly subscription models. The system works with services including Google Cloud and Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes, and others.

The platform connects to blockchain infrastructure providers such as Helius and Alchemy, along with data services from Dune Analytics and Nansen, enabling a broader ecosystem of AI-driven payments.

Growing Industry Focus on AI Payment Infrastructure

The launch comes as technology and crypto companies expand efforts to build payment systems for autonomous AI agents. Coinbase recently introduced an x402 app store for agents as part of ongoing development in this area.

These platforms are designed for enterprise developers seeking programmable payment systems that support new business models beyond traditional financial rails. Google has also expanded its crypto payment infrastructure efforts, including the introduction of an AI agent payments protocol backed by Coinbase and the Ethereum Foundation earlier this year. Additionally, companies such as Stripe and MoonPay have introduced systems that enable AI agents to conduct stablecoin transactions on behalf of users.

Recently, the Solana Foundation also introduced the STRIDE security framework to monitor and evaluate ecosystem projects through independent assessments. The initiative includes tiered incentives based on total value locked (TVL), offering enhanced security support for qualifying protocols. Additionally, the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN) was launched to coordinate security firms and researchers across the ecosystem. These measures aim to improve transparency and strengthen security practices while maintaining project-level responsibility.
