- LAPTOP is planned to launch September 9 on Coinbase’s Base network, with a total supply of 1 billion tokens.
- A fifth of that supply is set aside for two airdrop rounds reaching wallets still underwater on President Trump’s TRUMP coin.
- Up to another 30% only leaves circulation if Bitcoin hits a new high, a Democrat wins the 2028 election, or LAPTOP’s own valuation passes TRUMP’s.
Hunter Biden is preparing to launch a meme coin called LAPTOP on the Base blockchain this Wednesday, naming it after the laptop that became a fixture of his father’s 2020 campaign and building its airdrop, in part, around people who lost money on President Trump’s own TRUMP coin.
The plan, as described ahead of Wednesday’s launch, sets aside 30% of the token’s 1 billion supply for Biden and his co-founders, locked for six months and released over two years. Another fifth splits across two airdrop rounds reaching TRUMP’s underwater buyers alongside Biden’s Substack subscribers and contacts from documentary journalist Andrew Callaghan. The rest is split between charity, liquidity, and a burn that only activates under specific outside conditions.

The pool it’s aimed at
TRUMP is not short on underwater buyers to recruit. Of the 1.48 million wallets that have bought the coin since its January 2025 launch, nearly two-thirds, 988,905 of them, are sitting on combined losses of $3.81 billion, according to blockchain analytics firm Nansen. The remaining wallets are up a combined $4.04 billion.
Trump himself has taken in more than $1.4 billion from his crypto ties, per the same data. He has said he did nothing illegal and was unaware of how large his family’s holdings had grown, since he handed control of his businesses to his sons before taking office.
His own case against the incumbents
Biden has been building toward a project like this for months. In June, he wrote on X:
Fiat is a sham, the banking class is corrupt, decentralized digital currency and the blockchain are the inevitable future, and the incumbents will fight it to the death.
The post, which also referenced the trading platform Hyperliquid and crypto writer Andreas Antonopoulos, drew more than a million views. LAPTOP would hand Biden the same kind of insider vesting schedule he was describing as corrupt three months earlier, just with his own name on the allocation this time.
Neither Biden nor a representative has said anything publicly about LAPTOP itself, and no contract for the token exists yet on Base. The terms above are what’s been reported ahead of the planned launch, not yet what’s live on-chain. This piece will be updated once they are.
