  • PowerCompute Inc disclosed in an October 6, 2026 SEC filing that it increased contracted power at its Columbus, Mississippi data center from 8.5 to 11 megawatts under a new TVA data center tariff
  • The company said the move avoids approximately $9 million in capacity commitment charges that would otherwise apply above the first 5 megawatts
  • PowerCompute now operates 26 megawatts of total capacity across its Mississippi and Oklahoma sites, running 2,373 Antminer machines with 205 PH/s of hashrate

PowerCompute Inc, a Nasdaq-listed bitcoin mining operator, said in a press release filed with the SEC on October 6, 2026 that it has increased contracted power at its Columbus, Mississippi mining facility from 8.5 to 11 megawatts after executing a new agreement with the Tennessee Valley Authority on September 30, effective October 1.

The company said the expanded contract falls under a new TVA data center tariff classification, which it credited with helping it avoid roughly $9 million in capacity commitment charges, calculated at about $1.5 million per megawatt above the first 5 megawatts of contracted load. PowerCompute also disclosed that Columbus Light and Water returned a $300,000 deposit as part of the updated arrangement, freeing up additional capital for the company.

“Columbus is now a better mining site today, and it means the site already carries the tariff classification any HPC facility on TVA power must have,” said PowerCompute CEO Bruce Rodgers, pointing to the site’s readiness to support high-performance computing workloads alongside its existing bitcoin mining operations. CFO Richard Russell added that the company “added two and a half megawatts of contracted power with no capital contribution to the utility and no capacity commitment charge,” characterizing the expansion as a low-cost way to grow operating capacity without diluting shareholders or taking on new debt.

With the Columbus increase, PowerCompute now operates 26 megawatts of total capacity when combined with its 15-megawatt Calumet, Oklahoma site. The company said it runs 2,373 installed Antminer machines across its operations, delivering roughly 205 petahash per second of bitcoin mining hashrate. The new Columbus contract runs through September 16, 2030, giving the company a multi-year runway on its expanded power allocation.

The disclosure adds to a wave of announcements from publicly traded bitcoin miners this year about securing favorable power tariffs as utilities across the US introduce dedicated rate classes for large data center and high-performance computing loads. PowerCompute’s framing of the Columbus site as already carrying the classification required for broader HPC use suggests the company sees its mining infrastructure as a potential bridge into AI-adjacent computing demand as well.
