  • Token valuations rose on every chain with a reported market-cap figure (Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, and Tron) between 3 and 9 August 2026.
  • Decentralized-exchange volume fell on every chain with a reported figure, from Solana’s 30.7% decline to Base’s 60.8% decline.
  • Two figures moved against the broader pattern: Tron’s perpetual-futures volume rose 57.4%, and Ethereum’s active-address count rose 147% in a single day, from 377,381 on 8 August to 932,847 on 9 August.

Token valuations rose across every chain, with a market-cap figure (Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana, and Tron) between 3 and 9 August 2026, while decentralized-exchange volume fell across every chain for which the figure was tracked.

Several figures moved differently from that pattern this week: Ethereum’s active-address count, Tron’s perpetual-futures volume, Base’s transaction and address counts, and Bitcoin’s fee-to-transaction relationship.

Ethereum: Active Addresses Jump 147% as DEX Volume Falls

Within a single day this week, Ethereum‘s active-address count rose from 377,381 on 8 August to 932,847 on 9 August, a 147% one-day increase and the largest single-day percentage increase in active addresses.

Across the full week, total value locked rose 2.1%, from $40.893 billion to $41.771 billion, and token market cap rose 1.8%, to $231.152 billion; stablecoin market cap was roughly flat, up 0.2% to $147.68 billion, the largest stablecoin base among the six chains.

Trading activity moved in the opposite direction: decentralized-exchange volume fell 44.7% to $406.45 million, and perpetual-futures volume fell 52.4% to $639.96 million.

BNB Smart Chain: Valuation Gains Alongside Cooling Activity

BNB Smart Chain‘s token market cap and total value locked both climbed over the week, with market cap up 2.3% to $79.967 billion and TVL up 2.2% to $4.964 billion.

Decentralized-exchange volume fell 46.9%, from $1.401 billion to $744.58 million, active addresses fell 15.1% to 1.85 million, and transactions fell 8.7% to 14.90 million.

Solana: Market Cap Rises 3.5% as DEX Volume Falls

Among the five chains with a market-cap figure, Solana posted the largest weekly gain: token market cap rose 3.5%, from $42.713 billion to $44.227 billion. Its perpetual-futures volume swung sharply within the week: $1.283 billion on 7 August, $236.34 million on 8 August, and $651.7 million by 9 August.

Solana also 86.29 million transactions on 9 August, the highest single-day transaction count, even as decentralized-exchange volume fell 30.7% for the week overall, to $1.119 billion.

Tron: Perps Volume Jumps 57.4%

At $91.749 billion, Tron‘s stablecoin market cap held essentially flat over the week, about 62% the size of Ethereum’s $147.68 billion, and still the second-largest among the five chains with a reported stablecoin figure.

Perpetual-futures volume rose 57.4%, from $85.03 million to $133.88 million, the only reported weekly increase in perps volume among the six chains. Decentralized-exchange volume fell 52.4% to $20.26 million, and transactions fell 19.5% to 10.05 million.

Base: Two Single-Day Spikes Against a Steep Volume Decline

Base recorded two notable single-day spikes this week: transactions reached 11.07 million on 6 August, compared with roughly 7 million on the days immediately before and after, and active addresses reached 410,216 on 7 August before falling to 196,449 by 9 August.

The two occurred on different dates and involve different metrics. Decentralized-exchange volume fell 60.8% over the week, from $748.08 million to $293.27 million, the steepest DEX-volume decline. Total value locked and stablecoin market cap both rose modestly, up 2.7% to $4.676 billion and 1.0% to $4.879 billion.

Bitcoin: Market Cap Rises as Fees Fall

At $1.303 trillion, Bitcoin‘s token market cap ended the week up 2.4% from $1.273 trillion, roughly 5.6 times Ethereum’s $231.152 billion, the next-largest market cap, and the largest absolute figure among the five chains with a market-cap figure.

On-chain fees fell 44.7% to $139,032 even as transaction count rose 9.6% to 740,534. Active addresses fell 29.9%, from 741,819 to 520,129.

DEX Volume Falls Across Major Chains

DEX volume, 9 August 2026, chains with a reported figure:

Chain DEX Volume Weekly Change
Solana $1.119B -30.7%
BNB Smart Chain $744.58M -46.9%
Ethereum $406.45M -44.7%
Base $293.27M -60.8%
Tron $20.26M -52.4%

Solana led DEX volume at $1.119 billion, followed by BNB Smart Chain at $744.58 million and Ethereum at $406.45 million. Trading activity declined across all tracked chains, with Base posting the steepest weekly drop at 60.8%, while Tron fell 52.4%.
