Official TRUMP (TRUMP) is trading at $1.43, down 1.73% over the past 24 hours, the same day four separate polls, run by four different organizations over the past month, using four different questions, have landed on the same basic verdict: most voters disapprove of how President Trump and his family are profiting from crypto while he’s in office. The price move and the polling are two separate facts occurring on the same day. That kind of agreement across pollsters with no shared methodology is harder to dismiss as noise than any single survey would be on its own, even as Trump crypto legislation continues to draw scrutiny in Washington.

What’s Driving the Polling

The trigger is a federal financial disclosure. It showed Trump crypto income reached $1.2 to $1.4 billion from crypto ventures over the past year, including sales tied to World Liberty Financial and memecoins bearing his name, more than double his 2024 income. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who requested an updated version of that disclosure, argued the timing is the problem: millions of Americans are struggling to afford basics while, in her words, Trump is “using the presidency to boost his family’s crypto business.”

Tens of millions of Americans can’t afford the basics, and they want the Washington to do something about the affordability crisis.

Trump’s response? Using the presidency to boost his family’s crypto business.

What Four Polls Found

Echelon Insights, in a survey Warren cited on July 30, found 55% of voters disapprove of Trump’s crypto earnings, with 44% disapproving “strongly.” The firm says its sample was weighted to the modeled 2026 likely-voter electorate.

A CNN poll, asking a broader question about Trump’s total earnings in office rather than crypto specifically, found 57% call it “a bad thing” that he earned more than $2 billion while serving as president, including crypto, royalty, and property income. Only 7% call it good.

A Progressive Policy Institute/GBAO survey asked a policy question rather than an approval question: whether officials should be barred from profiting off crypto at all. 66% said yes, including 55% of Republicans, and that number held even after respondents were told Trump is a successful businessman.

Emerson College polling, tracking Trump’s crypto-specific approval rating directly, puts it at 25% approve versus 39% disapprove, a gap the firm describes as largely unchanged across multiple recent survey cycles.

One figure circulating elsewhere describes the PPI/GBAO survey as showing “71% to 75%” support for banning officials from crypto profits. That doesn’t match PPI’s own release. The confirmed number from that survey is 66%.

The One Thing That Would Actually Resolve This

Polling pressure alone doesn’t stop a sitting president from profiting off crypto. The Senate’s updated Clarity Act includes a provision banning presidents and other federal officials from issuing or sponsoring digital assets while in office, enforced by the Justice Department with fines up to $250,000 per day. Sen. Bernie Moreno has said Trump signed off on that section of the bill. The debate has also unfolded alongside other Trump-related digital initiatives, including Trump Truth API, although that development is separate from the ethics provisions in the legislation. If it becomes law, the conduct all four polls are measuring disapproval of stops being legally available to a president at all.
