Solo Miner Secures Full Bitcoin Block Reward

A small solo Bitcoin miner successfully mined block 943411 on Thursday, earning the full block reward of approximately $210,000. The total reward amounted to 3.139 BTC, consisting of a 3.125 BTC block subsidy and 0.014 BTC in transaction fees, valued at around $937. The miner operated through solo.ckpool.org, a solo mining pool that allows participants to retain full rewards while charging a 2% fee. The pool confirmed the achievement, identifying the miner by wallet address and noting the setup’s approximate hashrate of 230 terahashes per second (TH/s).
Con Kolivas Highlights Rare Solo Miner Win

Con Kolivas, the developer behind CKpool, shared that a solo miner with just 230 TH/s managed to beat steep odds to successfully mine a Bitcoin block, the mining setup represented roughly 0.00002% of Bitcoin’s total network hashrate, estimated at approximately 1 zettahash per second (ZH/s) as of April 2. According to CKpool developer Con Kolivas, a miner with this capacity faces approximately a 1-in-28,000 chance of solving a block on any given day.
The hashrate level suggests a small-scale operation, likely consisting of a limited number of ASIC machines running from a single location, rather than large industrial mining infrastructure or cloud-based scaling.
Rare Solo Mining Event
This block marks the first solo mining success on CKpool since Feb. 28, ending a 33-day period without a solo block discovery. Data from the Bennet solo-miner tracker indicates that solo miners have found only 20 Bitcoin blocks over the past 12 months, totaling 62.96 BTC. On average, this equates to one solo block approximately every 18.7 days, with the longest gap recorded at 58 days.
Recent activity also shows instances of rented hashrate contributing to solo wins. In late February, a miner reportedly used approximately $75 worth of on-demand cloud hashrate at 1 petahash per second (PH/s) to secure a block reward of around $200,000 via CKpool. The latest win highlights the rarity of solo mining success under current network conditions, particularly for small-scale participants.
